Photoshop Elements 7.0 message (problem) ?

Hi,

Whenever I open Photoshop Elements 7.0 or Adobe Photoshop CS3, I get this message

'The monitor profile "Dell SP2309W" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software'

and I'll have two options to choose from - 'Ignore Profile' and 'Use Anyway'

I find that the colours when using the two software, are a bit different to when I view the photos using Windows.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance!

Recalibrate your monitor, but use the monitor's built in controls to try to get closer to what you want prior to running the calibration utility. The video driver can only take adjustment so far, so you need to start your calibration with a monitor that has been manually brought into the ballpark.
This will mean going to the "advanced" controls in the calibration routine, not whatever it calls the Q&D or "quick calibration"

by that, do you mean the RGB settings? also, since in Windows the colours look ok to me, should I calibrate my monitor? shouldn't it be an internal software thing in photoshop and elements?

Lightroom and Photoshop use the embedded colour profile assigned during calibration.
Calibration is done outside of Photoshop.
It's entirely possible that your icc profile is corrupted or missing, hence the recommendation to calibrate your monitor.
The additional advice about doing a full calibration rather than a quick calibration is to ensure that the video driver is able to make the required changes to the screen output if the screen drifts.
Also, depending on which Windows software you are using your viewer may not be colour space aware, which pretty much means that if you have a profile other than sRGB embedded, the picture won't look right.(for example Picture and Fax Viewer).
