Pentax photolab/brower= no go

I just installed the pentax photo lab and photo browser and the install went smooth but neither program will start, both do absolutely nothing when I try and get them going...and I took some pics in RAW that I'd like to see!

What operating system, what version of software, what CPU ect.. Need more info. I've seen few problems w/ getting the software to run though it does have/had minor issues w/ Mac's.

You can try to "right clic" the icon, then "clic" "run as administrator". It might work.

Intel core 2 dou T6400 2.00 GHz, 4GB ram, vista 64 bit, version 2.0 of the Pentax programs.

Also any program that can read the pentax raw files will be just fine for me.

My guess (because I hate that OS) is it's a 64 bit incompatibly.
Others can confirm or deny...

well it says it's compatible but ....................
what version of the software on the disc may be important. Also I've had vista updates that apparently (not provable yet) knocked out a bunch of wireless hardware I tried.

You don't need the Pentax programs to read PEF or DNG RAW formats. I rarely use them, especially since they have been consistently slow (to the point of freezing and crashing all the time - DCU3) to just crashing all the time (the latest DCU 4.1) on my XP Pro system.

Common freeware Windows imaging apps like FastStone Image Viewer or Picasa will happily read and convert Pentax PEF and DNG RAW formats. And great apps like Adobe's Lightroom will also do a wonderful job in helping you read and manipulate your Pentax RAW files.

Version 2 may be a bit ancient - I'm on 3.51 from a year or so ago.

It is not very good but does the basics. Photo Lab actually has 2 useful functions - creating a list of exif data, and the ability to rename a file without overwriting the extension.

Photo Lab is pretty clunky, and so I went with Adobe Elements 6. It required the free Camera ACR update for the K20D RAW files.

Elements has way more to offer.

Get FastStone it's handy even if you use more high-powered (expensive) software.
