Linux lens correction tool

Hello everyone,

I am the new Pentax K-x user and not new Linux fan. I have a problem which I'd like to discuss with you. Do you know any linux software which is able to correct lens distortions, aberrations, etc ? For now I found lenstip library, which is used in Digikam, but it's lens database is quite narrow, and does not contain my lenses (SMC DA 18-250 and SMC DA 21/3.2 Limited - although this one does not really
need corrections so much ).
I know, that with K-x I can enable corrections in the camera, but then saving image takes too much time, so I am looking for another solution.
Looking forward for any suggestion.

Best Regards,

Piotr

You can use BibblePro as it is a native Linux app and it has lens correction as a feature. There isn't a profile for the DA 18-250mm, but it will be the same as the Tamron 18-250mm.

This is an example of the information in the BibblePro data files

begin lens
group: pentaxSLR
multiplier: 1.5
aperture: 3.2
menu_lens: smc PENTAX-DA 21mm f/3.2 AL Limited
cal_abc: 21 0.007030 -0.022460 0.000000
end

begin lens
group: genericSLR
multiplier: 1.5
aperture: 3.5
menu_lens: Tamron AF 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro
cal_abc: 18 0.020360 -0.059050 0.000000
cal_abc: 20 0.020770 -0.052400 0.000000
cal_abc: 23 0.016230 -0.032540 0.000000
cal_abc: 29 0.012160 -0.015480 0.000000
cal_abc: 35 0.000000 0.037550 -0.065270
cal_abc: 47 0.000000 0.033220 -0.047510
cal_abc: 70 0.000000 0.017510 -0.014350
cal_abc: 100 0.000000 0.018700 -0.018810
cal_abc: 120 0.000000 0.018400 -0.019970
cal_abc: 155 0.000000 0.009580 -0.002450
cal_abc: 200 0.000000 0.001230 0.013960
cal_abc: 250 0.000000 -0.000110 0.008560
end

This is an example of the Lensfun data in the latest Digikam

<lens>
<maker>Pentax</maker>
<model>SMC Pentax DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6</model>
<mount>Pentax KAF2</mount>
<cropfactor>1.5</cropfactor>
<calibration>
<distortion model="ptlens" focal="18" a="0.004593" b="-0.021008" c="0" />
<distortion model="ptlens" focal="21" a="0.00371" b="-0.014625" c="0" />
<distortion model="ptlens" focal="24" a="0" b="-0.004166" c="0" />
<distortion model="ptlens" focal="33" a="0" b="0.000528" c="0" />
<distortion model="ptlens" focal="55" a="0" b="0.003215" c="0" />
</calibration>
</lens>

You can see that Bibblepro is using the same type of data for the lens correction, just the format of the LensFun library is in XML and some of the labels have changed.

Thank you
Russell

@titrisol: yes, this I know, but I meant automatic correction..
@Russell-Evans: This is it, thank you ! It's quite easy to convert this data to lensfun format.

Best Regards,

Piotr
