Whats a pp2 file?

Hi all
I am still trying to get my head around this .........so when I pp a pic and save it, it saves as a jpg and another file, this pp2...........
So what is a pp2?
How do I save the data in the file? I have that box ticked in the Rt program but cant work out if thats what I am doing.......

This is nothing like waiting for your film to come back!
Talk about a huge learning curve!

What app are you using, exactly?
I googled for PP2 but that filetype isn't related to any app regarding image post processing...

From the camera into Raw Therapee to Paint shop pro 9 to save as a jpg..........

From the review at photozone.de:

"Intermediate results are stored in a dedicated ".pp2" file per image so you can pick up your work again whenever you want. "

Your RAW file is probably never modified - all the mods applied to the file are stored in the pp2 file. In this case you would be able to reopen the raw file with the pp2 in RT and add new changes.

pp2 is used by RT only and probably has no connection with the jpeg other than listing the procedures which were used to convert the RAW to jpeg. Use your jpeg with PSP, keep your PP2 with the raw file.

Ok! Its like saving a psp file to work on later! I can see I need a better filing system..........project no 437b
