Linux -- Ubuntu Karmic 9.10, libraw 0.8.5, Raw file processing

Looks like Pentax K7 is only supported from libraw 0.8; however, the default package seems to only have libraw 0.7.2 installed, which causes apps (i.e., digikam, etc) to render colors incorrectly. Is there any way to upgrade to the latest?

did you try
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install
that should work IF libraw 0.8 is in the repository
otherwise, maybe have to roll your own...
good luck!

Yup.. it seems like there is a catch. Digikam uses libraw from kdegraphics package and I think that's only updated during KDE core releases. I think the latest beta version has 0.8.4.

This kind of nonsense is going to kill, or hold Linux back for almost forever. There are too darn many people going too many--uncoordinated directions--on various Linux projects.

I just made the mistake of updating to 9.10 and still have issues---my audio now sounds like a tin can and Firefox 3.5x freezes up the entire machine when trying to log into online email.

I did the update as well and now nothing works.

(Not really, but enough stuff is broken that I don't believe I will be able to recover...)
