I would like to hear your comments on these in relation to the post processing, as that is what I'm trying to improve in these shots, in the cows, I know the sky was blown out a bit, and the cows a little underdeveloped, hence trying to work on a difficult photo!
I'm really keen on getting my brain around photoshop, and any comments to help me speed up the learning curve would be great!
If if works for you, it works. That said, IMHO...
Image 1 is a bit too saturated for my taste . I don't care much for the added purple color, especially in the logs. It's ok in the mountains, I guess. But the mountains have a slight halo above them. I actually prefer the 'original' version.
For image 2, I think you did a good job recovering what you could from the blown sky in the original. The PP sky looks very good. Where it's still blown out, it works - at least for me. As for the cows, I don't see much difference. But that's good I think. The strong backlighting tends to produce silhouettes - that's what you had and have. Comparing to the original, your work cloning out the wires in the sky is rather messy and artificial. But likely no one would notice w/o the original for comparison.
My 2c, yours for free.
