JP, don't know if this deals with your issue, but you can always make changes to a PEF file in Bridge (the lighter version for example) then open using the +Alt (Option) in PS4, then back to Bridge to make more changes (darker version) and repeat the process. Now you have two files open in PS, you can view them side by side, drag and drop one over the other, change opacities, modes etc. It helps to visualize how the changes will actually work without piling up multiple layers in a single file. And of course, if you make Snapshots as your do it, you have several versions of each that can be compared quickly side by side. Just one more way to walk that road,

Note you can get LR cheap (under $100) if you or someone you know qualifies for the educational discont.

Yes it does, and that would be another way to "double process".
I'll give it a go.
