Can a netbook be able to handle lightroom 2.6?

Can a netbook w/c uses atom processor be able to handle lightroom 2.6?
Just for processing only like putting 1-2 DNG files and processing it. Then remove the files after and so on..

if you're looking for a netbook like form factor, you might want to check out the acer aspire 1410. It uses a Intel® Core™2 Solo Processor SU3500 so it's faster than your typical atom powered netbook. I love mine and have used it for lightroom. Not as fast as my quadcore desktop, but it works when I'm traveling.

I have a Lenovo S10, 1.6 ghz Atom, 1.5 GB of ram. I just tinkered with the Lightroom 3 beta. It seems to run reasonably well. The biggest limitation I think you will find is the resolution of the screen. LR really is designed for something bigger.

I already got an acer aspire one.
I tried installing it but it says Windows Installer - The installation package could not be opened. I was able to install it in my Pc.

Definition of "works"? I have Lightroom on my netbook. I loads, it runs, and it is painfully slow. Beyond a few very basic functions to prepare a photo to email to a friend while I'm on my trip, it really isn't usable for me. The photos wait until I get home for editing on my desktop.

I have been looking at some of the Netbooks. I'm still kicking myself for not buying one of those Asus models with Linux when they were $199. Just yesterday I browsed through a couple of stores looking at them. Most of the models are over $300 and the ones that had specs suitable for what I want to do, like 5+ hrs battery and enough hard drive space were in the $500 range( plus/minus $50). For $600, I could get a real laptop with a 13 in screen, 320 gig hard drive, a Core I 5 processor, 4 gig memory,DVD, card reader, etc. A little bigger and heavier than a netbook but still easily to carry. There were a few laptops for prices even lower but not spec'd as nice. There are a lot of compromises with netbooks but at $200, they were an attractive product. Laptops aren't selling right now so there are some great deals so unless someone needs a coat pocket computer, why compromise?

Is there a netbook size like 10inch that performs like a laptop or even faster?

Netbooks are great for what they're designed to do, emailing, surfing the web, basic office functions, and even using it to backup images while on a road trip. They were never intended to be laptop or desktop replacements. The video card and processor on most netbooks are just not capable of adequately handling LR's heavier functions, and the desktop resolution (usually at 1024x600) is just not enough for it to fit on the screen properly:

Intel® Pentium® 4 processor
Microsoft® Windows® 7, Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise (certified for 32-bit and 64-bit editions) or Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2
1GB of RAM
1GB of available hard-disk space
1,024x768 display
CD-ROM drive

Windows Installer
This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and
that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

What process are you following to install it? Are you installing from an online download or from CD? Have you tried right clicking on the installer file and selecting "Run As" so you can run it as administrator?
