My first HDR

Used the 18-55 kit on this. I will go back and reshoot when I get some better glass and a better looking sky. Used Photomatrix Pro and a little bit of PS.

Comments?

Nicely composed photograph. I am not sure if the scene required HDR as the highlights and darks seem well within the limits of a single shot. Also, there seems to be some halo effects around the trees.

Thanks. Here is the normal exposure original it's pretty dark...unedited except for a resize.

I think you did well, most people seem too way over do it when it comes to starting out hdr.

This was done with 1/2 Step EV and I only went to -1/+1 I still have the RAW so I am going to try -2/+2 and see if I can get a better look. If I succeed I will post the new version here too.

Very nice photo! I love playing with HDR. I am using Dynamic Photo HDR. They have a free trial. and will allow you to also do pseudo HDR on one photograph.

This is the kind of tone-mapped HDR I like. The photo has a natural feel and the halos are not so marked.
BTW I'm not completely sure that this shot would require HDR. Looking at the color levels, I could say that the sky can be overexposed a little more without no loss of information. This solution has the advantage to give a more natural luminosity to the grass (too bright in the HDR, IMHO) and no halo.

Just an opinion.

I hope you are not offended, but I could not resist but to take you picture and try it with Dynamic HDR. and trying it with photo realistic mode and eye catching. When I saw that halo effect I was curious if this software would show it also.

Not offended at all...it was the very first picture out of my camera that I published to the web. I can get rid of that halo effect now that I know how...I just haven't cause I plan on reshooting anyways.

I am the same way- I have several places I will be going back to, to do the same thing, take more and better pictures. We have so many places like your shot here in the central texas area. I really love old farm shots
