I can't tell you what the best one is because I haven't tried all of them, and each has his/her own favorite.

But I can tell you I'm using NoiseWare, and am happy with it.

You should down load a 30-day evaluation and try it yourself.

I'm not sure what this means.

Never use any, but the name Noise Ninja pops up frequently in posts.

I like the Imagenomic Noiseware results, the free community release does all I need.
It's results are not as blurry as noise ninja in my opinion.

I'd be curious to see how well any of these software packages do with 6400 ISO on Pentax images.

Did you shoot them in RAW or JPEG mode?

Because noise bugs me I have tried most of the noise reduction software and it does come down to subjective judgement. I am using Imagenomic Noiseware and satisfied with it.

I use Noiseware also, I got the paid version. You can process a batch of photos at once and it keeps the exif info.

Noiseware gets a lot of attention lately. Noise Ninja used to be considered kind of the standard, although when I compared head to head, I preferred Neat Image. Noiseware wasn't on my radar yet.

But FWIW, I rarely see the need for any of these. The NR facilities built in to most PP programs is often sufficient, especially if oyu shoot RAW. I use ACDSee Pro 3, and the equivalent of ISO 6400 on my K200D cleans up nicely enough for my purposes. People really seem to love the new Lightroom 3 beta, too. The dedicated noise reduction programs tend to be overly aggressive at their default settings, yielding a somewhat "plastic" look, and when I try dialing back the amounts, it doesn't look any better than what I get just in regular PP.

I shot them with jpeg. Raw would eat my memory card up. I took a lot of pictures.

I heard (twip maybe) that version 3 of Lightroom has excellent noise reduction. It will certainly be a welcomed improvement on the current (for me) version 1. something.

It seems a better alternative as it melds seamlessly into the management of the images.

I can hardly tell that the NR in Lightroom 2 does anything at all.

The NR in lightroom 3 seems a lot better. (I'm using the beta).

The in-camera noise reduction in the K7 (when shooting jpegs) is excellent. I have not found any software that matches it. Since I shoot RAW instead of jpegs I'd like to.
