FYI Jeff and I spoke (in PM) I understand where he is coming from and really the post was in jest and serious for reasons already discussed. Lets let it go and move on to more K10 pictures It was funny though.

the manual

often the manuals are written by engineers and those who operate in theory I wonder at times if they have held the camera and tried to be in the position of the owner...baking a cake and teaching to bake the cake are different...me I just want to eat the cake

I am sure that I won't get a lot of whats in the manual to. I looked at it online, but I am very much a visual/ practical learner, meaning I have a hard time visualizing what something is/ means out of a book, without really trying it with the camera.
the good thing about digital, if you don't know what something means in the manual, you can just keep trying physically with the camera, taking shots until it all makes sense.

just another 2 cents (1 cent american)

cheers
That's pretty much how I am too. If I don't know what something is in the book. I'll just pick up the camera, and with the manual near by give it a shot. Coming from a P&S world, I think pretty much right now. The hardset thing I'm trying to learn is matching Aperture and shutter speed. I just keep trying to do as much hands on as possible, and read as much info as possible. I'm waiting to get the book "understanding exposure" by Brian Peterson. a book that seems to be reccomended by everyone.
