Item Description
Up for sale is Vivitar Series 1 35-85mm F2.8 zoom. It has maximum aperture of 2.8 throught zoom range making it very fast. Vivitar Series 1 lens are known for their first rate quality and design. It is highly regarded zoom lens and may be it has sort of cult status.

It has netural color tones and very sharp pictures. I am selling this to fund some expensive lens buy.

The lens is in good condition with clear optics ,snappy blades and no fungus.

The serial no starts with 22 so maybe this lens was made by Komine or maybe Kiron (I am not sure).

I also had to grind off collar at the rear. It was something similar to link below

Collar grinding.

Collar grinding2

I have used the lens several months after doing this minor modification without any issues. Just like normal manual lens

Pictures are at following link

Varifocal or true zoom? i.e. once focused does it maintain focus as focal length is changed?

It needs to be refocussed. I believe that Vivitar choose this design to achive optimum performance at all zoom length and I believe this is the reason why this lens is sharper than other zooms in same range.

This one belongs to the first generation of Series 1. The lens is mentioned in this cult lens page - just search for the section on Vivitar.
