[SOLD] Brand New Pentax FA 35mm f/2 AL Lens (Multiple Available) (Worldwide)

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Brand New Pentax FA 35mm f/2 AL Lens (Multiple Available)

Asking Price per lens
$485 all inclusive (US)
$515 all inclusive (Worldwide)

Item Location
Milwaukee, USA

Item Description
This is a very hard to find lens, but I was able to obtain several. These are brand new lenses - not even out of the box. They all have about 12 months of US warranties on them, as they are hardly a week old.

This lens needs no introduction, so I am not going to make any! Comes with everything that came in the original box. The box might have the store inventory sticker on one of the sides (but not all have them, just two). The lens was made in Japan and is under US warranty.

Serious inquiries only please, and I am firm on the price. I will ship worldwide, and for convenience I have priced it inclusive of shipping, insurance and Paypal.

Please note that Paypal is the preferred service, but if you wish, you could pay by Money Order, or Cashier's Check, and take $15 off the price.

The cost to ship to Brazil is as indicated in the original posting (as worldwide) - it is inclusive of shipping.

Forgive my ingorance, but what does the "AL" stand for? This is the only Pentax lens I've noticed with that designation. I assume it has something to do with why this lens is so expensive (even for a Pentax lens).

Have seen it mentioned as "automatic levels" in Pentax engineering optics. Don't think it means that here though.

The AL designation does exist on atleast a few other lens -

Pentax 24mm f2.8
Pentax 31mm f1.8

to name a couple.

It means "aspherical". I.e. the lenses with this designation use at least one aspherical element in their optical design.

Here's some Pentax marketing spiel for you, straight from their lens catalogue:

QuoteQuote:
AL - (Aspherical Lenses) Contrary to spherical, aspherical lenses do not have a uniformly curved spherical shape. The form of an aspherical lens is adapted to a specific task and the curvature of each is individually computed. The production of these lenses is accordingly complex. The greatest advantage of aspherical lenses: several types of optical aberrations can be corrected at one time. They are used particularly in high-quality lenses allowing for the use of fewer lens elements so that a high luminous intensity is attained.
