This looks like the superior first edition 50mm f1.4 It's supposedly the copy that Pentax lost money on because it was so expensive to manufacture.

This should go fast.

I'm not sure that it is the Model 1 50mm, but I'm not 100% sure that it isn't either. Its in an area of overlap with the serial numbers.

put the lens at infinity, then take a profile picture of the rear of element, It will protrude the rear of the lens. This will Ident an 8 element 50 1.4 s.tak

It looks like the first version based on the IR mark being to the right of the 4. I expect the rear element will protrude as well.

I wish I knew what the hell you guys are talking about.

All I can say is my boring Super-Tak 50 1.4 is the most special thing I own, and nowadays, 75 bucks is the least you can hope to get one for.

Unfortunately, the IR mark isn't 100% reliable when these lenses are in the overlap area of the Serial #'s (above 1,48x,xxx to 1,58x,xxx or possibly 1,83x,xxx). Plus, there are more than 1 variation on the face plate. For example, my Ver1 doesn't have the serial number following the focal length and aperture. Furthermore, I think tooooo much reliance on the IR mark has led to some mis-ID in Nigel's old m-fortytwo project data base. Its somewhat tricky to ID the rear element for people that have all models in their hand.

Regardless, this specimen will make a fine lens for someone.

Sale Pending

Thanks for all the interest. A sale is currently pending. I'll contact the people in line when it's sold or if it falls through.

The rear element does protrude.

Why would that happen? If there are only two optical designs and their IR mark is different, using one marking for the wrong lens design would be sloppy work on Asahi's part. The only way the IR mark would be wrong is if someone disassembled and reassembled the lens using mixed components - that is pretty unlikely to happen.

Pentax manufactured the last run of the 8 element lenses with the first run of the 7 element lenses which resulted in overlapping serial numbers. Though the have different numbers of elements and groups, they do have the same minimum focusing distance.

Edit: If you go back and look at my original post, you will see that I said I wasn't 100% sure it was or it wasn't Ver1 but based on what Deadkenny said, it is.
