[SOLD] Sigma 20mm 1.8 EX DG (Worldwide)

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Sigma 20mm f/1.8 EX DG

Asking Price
$330

Item Location
Albany, NY, USA

Item Description
I am the original owner of this Sigma 20mm 1.8 EX, it includes the original Sigma padded soft case, hood and both Sigma lens caps. It also includes a 82mm UV filter to get you started. I originally got this lens for use on film SLRs but in 2006 I switched to digital, I've had this lens for about 4 years but I have not used it much since 2008 when I got the 21mm Limited and 10-20mm listed elsewhere on this forum.

This is a NON HSM version of the lens, however, since it is rear focusing focus is fast. The front element does not move and neither does the barrel of the lens during focus.

The lens is in excellent condition both optically and cosmetically with no visible wear on the lens or optics.

This is a big lens, with an 82mm front element, however, it is the only f/2 or faster 20mm lens made by anyone. If you need a fast wide angle and the 21mm DA isn't your idea of fast, this is the only game in town.

Photos wide open

Is there any way you can post some photos taken with this lens wide open so I can see how sharp/soft it is at that aperture?

The above photo with the dog was taken at f/2.0, essentially wide open at close focus.

If your looking at the lens, you've probably looked at the reviews, like any UWA at f/1.8 the lens isn't all that sharp at the corners, but it's acceptable in the center. Once you stop down a little bit the lens sharpens up quickly and becomes on par with any other UWA, if not better. It's actually a really good lens, unfortunately, I'm shooting Pentax because I like lenses like the 21mm 3.2, and don't really need fast glass all that often.

BTW, in comparison, the Pentax 20mm f/2.8 is not sharp wide open either but Sigma gives you a full stop extra for when you need it.

I'll look for some more wide open or f/2.0 samples.

at f/2.0 ISO 1600, K10D @ 1/10th of a second
