[SOLD] Gemini 135mm 2.8 (Pentax K mount) (US)

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Gemini 135mm 2.8 (Pentax K mount)

Asking Price
$40

Item Location
ATL

Item Description
This is an interesting lens.
It has always been considered an 'off market' kind of item.
I don't know who makes it, or if "GEMINI" is just a repackaging of another brand.

It has good color rendition, and a fine type of sharpness (as seen in test photos.)
If you look closely at the wide open outdoor shots (taken on an overcast, hazy day), you'll see the 'interesting' part.

This thing called 'bokeh'- that part of the image that is out of focus on a near field, shallow focus image, gets very 'painterly'.
Almost impressionistic.

While I don't have an example (but can produce one if anyone cares to see it) with this lens coupled to a 2x converter- it's really astounding!
Exaggerated effect.

As you can see, it does a good job of making for a SDOF portrait type image.
Sharp where you need it, then rolling off gently near and far.
Kinda neat.

It is in good cosmetic condition.
The aperture ring is smooth and detents are snappy.
No excess oil/lubricant seen on blades.
No scratches or wear marks on glass.
Nothing floating around in the tube.
(pix show it pretty good I think- need more? contact me.)

It's not 'prefect'. NLAV, if you know the phrase.
The coating is smooth and not flaking- there's no fungus I can see.
Might be some spots here and there, but nothing that affects the shots you'll make.
And, it's $40.00. A good deal I guess.

REASON FOR SELLING?
Would you believe I have two of them!
This one is surplus to my needs then- thought someone else could take a shot at it, with it (I mean.)
The one I'm keeping is kinda rough cosmetically (scratches in the paint- looks like rub marks from hauling around unprotected.) I wouldn't sell it for $20.00!
Er, probably couldn't sell it for $20!

I prefer selling to the Con. US- but will consider World sale, but with restrictions.
If you're in a far away place and want this, contact me- we'll work it out.

Thanks for looking.

[oh yeah- I take PayPal or any coin of the realm, even personal checks -a novel concept, I know.]

Original Poster
i don't 'bump' every day of the week.
in fact, this nice lens bumped itself.

nice price, nice lens, nice reach, good color, sharp enough
good for portraits.

oh yeah- i got an email from someone who commented i should have p'shopped that speck on the lens before i put it up.
ain't no 'speck', it's called a 'specular highlight' from the reflections inside the lens.
happens on all lenses.

but, thanks for thinking of me.
