[SOLD] Spotmatic & Yashica TL Electro X (Eric CLA'd), Helios-44M, S-Tak 50/1.4 (World

For sale is an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic, CLA'd this month by the renowned Eric Hendrickson. Eric fixed the metering system, repaired the corroded battery compartment, cleaned and lubed the entire system. Clean viewfinder, clean mirror, new seals, new foam. Meter works correctly, shutter release is smooth, winds smoothly, self-timer even works. The body is mostly clean with some typical wear and a slight dent in the prism housing right at the top--no effect on operation. Also comes with an original thin strap. It's a beautiful camera in beautiful condition. CLA was $85. Asking $90 shipped & PP'd.

Next up is a Yashica TL Electro X, also serviced this month by Mr. Hendrickson. This is a wonderful old M42 body that you can read more about here. As that site puts it, "[The] Yashica TL Electro X was introduced in 1968. It was the first camera with electronic lights for exposure information in the viewfinder, and the first with stepless electronic shutter speed control." It's a joy to handle and shoot with, and quite the looker as well. This specimen is in perfect working and fine cosmetic condition--aside from a few tiny scratches on the baseplate and some rub marks around the mount, it looks almost new. Eric replaced the seals and foam and cleaned the whole camera inside and out. CLA was $49. Asking $60 shipped & PP'd.

Along with the cameras, I have two M42 lenses available:

First up is a Helios-44M. This was my first introduction to the Helios magic and it's a truly amazing lens. This lens had a solitary dot of fungus on one of the inner elements from the time I purchased it from the UK. This spot never grew, but I recently (in a fit of madness) decided to open the lens up and clean it out myself. Shockingly, the cleaning went smoothly and the lens is in perfect working condition. In my opinion, it's a great example of the breed. Comes with a rear cap and a protective filter. Asking $30 shipped & PP'd.

Next is a Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4, recently CLA'd by Eric. I got this lens with the Spotmatic above, and it was heavily infested with fungus. Seriously, it looked terrible and I nearly threw it away. However, I consulted with Eric and he suggested I just throw it in the box with the other gear I was sending him and he'd see what he could do. Turns out, he could do miracles--the lens is now completely fungus-free and works perfectly. Operation is as smooth as you'd expect from a Takumar, and great IQ. While all elements are fungus-free, there are a few pinprick cleaning marks on the front element, and one haze mark (a few mm across) on the rear element. These have no effect on IQ. The lens also displays some yellowing on the front element, as is typical with this lens model, but this also has no discernible effect on IQ that I've seen. On both my K-7 and D700 (adapted) it produces very nice images. Comes with a rear cap and protective filter. Asking $45 shipped & PP'd.

*** Combine either of the above lenses with either of the above cameras and take $10 off the package price. ***

Shipping is included for CONUS. If elsewhere, ask about shipping cost. Pics of both cameras are available upon request, but I feel I've done a good job describing them. Thanks!

The Electro X is a great camera body for m42. However, it was the 1st stepless shutter to the market, but Pentax presented a working prototype of the Metallica II at the 1966 Photokina that was to feed the Electro Spotmatic, ES, ES II and eventually the metal shuttered K2.

That said, you can't go wrong with this body and I commend DWB for restoring it! bigthumbsup

Open to offers, btw. I don't really want to go below the CLA cost on either, but let me know what you think is reasonable.
