[SOLD] Pentax K-x with Nikon focusing screen (US)

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Pentax K-x with Nikon focusing screen

Asking Price
370

Item Location
Southern California, USA

Item Description
Pentax K-x black body in outstanding condition, with accessories (including original unused lithium batteries) in original box. It really looks like new to me, but you can see light rub marks (not even scratches) from when I mounted it to my ball-head tripod. As usual, these are more pronounced in the attached photo than in real life (notice how the bumps in the surface texture are also quite pronounced). Includes Nikon K3 "Rule of Thirds" split image microprism focusing screen, which you can see here: Focusing Screen

It took me about 2 very tedious hours to get the screen in with the correct number of shims for proper focus (I tried all the combinations to see what worked best on this one, rather than merely following others' example). As a result there are a few very small specks of dust or dirt on the screen, which I never notice when using using it. I really like this screen, but since I have it installed just right I am selling it with the camera. If you don't want the screen I'd suggest getting a different K-x. However, you should want it - it's a big improvement for the K-x, which also helps make up for the lack of focusing point indicator. Nevertheless, I will include the original focusing screen in the box as well.

It is black, body only. I do have the DAL 18-55 lens that came with it, but I was planning on keeping it (although I never use it). Thanks for the question - I updated the listing.

I had a request for some product shots so here they are. These are straight-from-camera JPGs from my K200D under less than ideal lighting:

I don't know the exact shutter count but I'm sure it's over 10,000. I love this camera and I use it much more than my K200D. It has performed flawlessly. I'm only selling it because I'm planning to get a K-r or K-5 (I'll decide when I see them) with blind faith that I'll like one of them. Otherwise I'd have no interest in selling it, especially with the focusing screen upgrade. I'll use my K200D in the meantime (and I'm sure I'll miss the K-x).

I think the K-x will continue to be the best value available in a DSLR, and worthy of comparison to any APS-C model out there. But I believe I'll bite the bullet (by trimming my lens collection as well) to help pay the substantially higher price for one of the new bodies.
