[SOLD] SMC Pentax K28mm/3.5 - EX+ (US)

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
SMC Pentax K28/3.5 - EX+

Asking Price
$115

Item Location
Southern California, USA

Item Description
This is the highly regarded K28 f/3.5 "SMC PENTAX 1:3.5/28" lens. It has the reputation of being Pentax' sharpest 28mm lens. According to some it even beats other manufacturer's 28mm lenses. In any case it's one of a number of my lenses that isn't seeing much use, since I have the FA Limited trio.

I'd say it's in better than excellent shape, but I don't have the box. The front cap is generic and on the rear is a nice vintage-looking Tokina cap. The glass looks perfect, as far as I can see. In fact I have to look hard to find any wear on it, except on the rear mount and some barely noticeable wear on the aperture ring.

You'll find this is a fine example of a great lens, but since I've been using my FA31 instead, it should go elsewhere.

Unless you want to spend more than 3 times the money and pick up the K28/2, this is really one of the best 28mm lens you can buy.

Does any one know if "SMC Pentax K28mm/3.5" and "SMC Pentax-M 28mm/3.5" are the same lens, or does one say K while the other say M on the barrel, and they're of different lenses and quality?

Thanks,
Wayne

There are no letters on the K lenses. It will read Pentax 28mm f3.5 or something like that. An M or A lens will have the letter following the word Pentax.

It is a different optical formula than the M 28/3.5. The actual name is what I put in parenthesis in the listing - SMC PENTAX 1:3.5/28. I took some comparison shots today and the sharpness compared favorably with the FA31. Here they are at f/4.5 and ISO 400 - straight JPGs from my K200D. The first is the FA31 and the second is the K28/3.5:
