[SOLD] SMC Takumar 28mm f3.5 w/Hood and Case (US)

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
SMC Takumar 28mm f3.5 w/Hood and Case

Asking Price
REDUCED 70 USD

Item Location
Austin, Texas, USA

Item Description
For Sale: "Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 28mm f3.5 lens.

This is a nice shooting and sharp copy of this lens, optics are clean and clear with maybe a speck or two of internal dust if you look really, really hard.

I rate this lens as "good" purely for cosmetic reasons. There is some brassing on a few high points of the focus ring and the manual/auto switch. This lens has probably lived a life of frequent use but good care. It is NOT a museum piece and is priced accordingly.

Along with the lens comes a nice group of accessories: A correct lens hood, in excellent condition with lens application perfectly screened on the side. The hood comes with it's own leather case, in good condition. Experts agree here on the forum that if you want the best from this lens, use a hood.... well, here's a Pentax original hood as part of the deal!

Also comes with the correct Takumar hard case for this lens. I'd say the case is in excellent condition.

A nice little package of goodies for a normal-wide prime for your DSLR!

Following photos shows the lens attached to a K20D camera. Obviously, the camera is for demo purposes only. Yes, I've been asked on previous sales!

For those Takumar-geeks among us, this is part number43872.

regards,

germar

Does anyone have a comment to compare the SMC Takumar or Super-Multi-Coated Takumar to the "sought-after" K28/3.5 in IQ?

Germar - does your lens come with a M42-to-K adapter?
Thanks.

Should be as good...

As mentioned in my sale post, this lens is marked as part number 43872, which is (as far as I understand) the last of the Takumars and released in 1971. I believe most of the "K" type lenses used the same formulas as the final Takumars, so I would want to say that this lens *should* have the same IQ as a SMC K lens.

I welcome further commentary that helps to better illustrate this nice lens.

Unfortunately, this package does not include a M42 to K mount adapter.

thanks,

germar

There is a a lot of confusion about this because roughly half of the K-mount lenses shared the optical formula with an S-M-C Tak predecessor.

However, the k 38/3.5 has this optical layout of 8/7

The S-M-C Tak 28/3.5 has 7/7

Regardless, this is a nice lens and set. The square hoods are very well designed which in conjunction with the smc coating provides excellent flare control etc.
