[SOLD] FS: Tamron AF 300 f/2.8

I have a Tamron SP AF300mm f/2.8 LD-IF, model EP60, that I don't use enough these days. Therefore I've decided that it's time to let it go to a better home.

The lens is in Ex+ condition (KEH rating). To elaborate a little bit, the exterior has a few scraping marks but absolutely no dings. The glass is clean, no fungus or haze and only very little dust.

The lens comes with the following:
- tripodmount
- lens hood
- 112mm clear protection filter designed for this lens
- two extra filter holders with generic 81A and 81B filters (43mm) mounted
- front cap
- soft case

All these accessories are original Tamron designed for this lens (with the exception of the 43mm filters).

I guess a little information on the lens would be in place. In KAF mount this is a very rare lens. Since I bought it about five years ago I've only seen it once on EBay and that was three or four years ago. Otherwise I only know about one more owner of this lens. Its sharp already wide open at f/2.8 but at f/4.0 its just biting sharp. The optical formula is rumored to be same as the Pentax FA*, but don't take my word on it as I've never managed to get it confirmed.

I'm looking for $1800 OBO plus shipping and PayPal fees if applicable.

I'll post more pictures if anyone is interested.

/Paul

Yeah, that's some serious drool-inducing optics! My friend and I at work discussed going in 50-50 on it....I said he could have it during the week and I take it during the weekends

Good luck with the sale!

Here is some quick samples. Please note that I've posted crude JPEGs straight out of the my old ist D with no post processing of any kind. Both these have been taken with a teleconverter attached. I'll post new samples over the weekend when I get home.

At f/2.8:

At f/4.0:

I know they are not the best examples, but I'm currently away from home and these are the best examples I have on my laptop.

To paraphrase Mick 'Crocodile' Dundee, "Now that's a lens!"

I just realized that I probably used the Tamron 1.4 teleconverter on both those photos. You can't get that close to the lions at LA Zoo.
But I guess that just shows the IQ of these lenses.

Hello,

I am interested in your lens. What would be the final price (shipping to Germany, PayPal fees)? Is the Tamron 1.4 teleconverter included?

Kind regards,
froeschle

Hi Paul,

Add me to the people who are interested please. I just missed out on another 300-2.8, yours looks like a fine performer as well. Could you mail me some wide open examples in full resolution please?
