This is a great little camera kit. I bought it new in Feb 2008 for $599, and have thoroughly enjoyed it since. It isn't the latest model, but it works just as well as when it was. Being the Super model, it has shake reduction, dust removal, and is compatible with SDHC cards as well as SDM lenses, not that I have ever used one of those. It has a top LCD, focus points in the view finder, and the lovely colors of the CCD sensor with supposedly better high(er) ISO performance than the K10d. I even see the 6MP as an advantage, because the RAW files are not that big and my old computer can handle them without slowing down, plus they take up much less space in archives. The camera is small and light to handle, more so than most of the newer DSLRs.
The DA 18-55mm lens is the original version, said to be not quite as good optically as version II, but fine to get started. It does have quick shift, a metal mount and comes with a hood.
The camera and lens are both in very good shape, showing only minor signs of use. There are a few scrapes on the bottom, a little dust in the crevices, many tiny fine scratches on the LCD that do not interfere with use at all. There is one little spot on the top LCD, maybe a grain of sand, that doesn't interfere with use at all. The strap shows a little wear, too. Included are both original boxes, the serial number cards, cords and caps, software and the manual for camera and programs. I might not have the little "manual" that comes with the lens, which is of very low utility, and the original set of non-rechargeable batteries are long gone. And you get the cap-keeper I put on the front lens cap as a bonus. Shutter count is approximately 20,657. I may have taken one or two shots since I didn't keep, but that is the ballpark.
All-in-all a very nice set to get you started in the world of DSLRs, or a handy back-up camera. In truth these aren't that common in the marketplace, probably in part because they serve so well in both of those roles. eBay prices look to be anywhere from $200-$300, centered around $260, so I think the price here is fair. I'm not looking to separate the body and lens, but will always listen to reasonable offers. I have a few more pictures I can send you if you need convincing, and thousands of sample shots. :-) If you find anything not as described I will be happy to refund your money. Please ask any questions you might have.
Thanks for looking!
Nick
ps The SMC 35mm Takumar I am also selling would be nice on this camera. I can easily fit it in the same box with no extra shipping charge if someone wants a really nice kit.
