[SOLD] Vivitar Series-1 105mm F2.5 Macro lens (Worldwide) Marketplace Listing

Vivitar Series-1 105mm F2.5 Macro lens

Asking Price

Item Location
Perth, Western Australia

Item Description
Vivitar Series 1 105mm 1:2.5 Macro lens in Pentax KA mount in excellent condition.

This lens is built like a tank, is made in Japan and is the most highly sought version of this lens (apparently it is the Kino built version as evidenced by the serial number which begins with 22...).

The lens achieves 1:1 reproduction with out the addition of tubes or attachments. You won't find a better macro lens.

It is also a superb portrait lens - as evidenced by the images by 'ducdao' on page 5 of this thread).

Cosmetics are great and the glass is perfect with only a little dust (as you'd expect of a lens of this age) which doesn't affect image quality.

Mechanically the lens is great - the aperture blades are clean and snappy and the focus is silky smooth.

It has A-contacts and can be used on both Pentax DSLRs and film cameras.

It comes with front & rear caps (not original but perfectly functional) and has an integral slide out lens hood.

You can read reviews of this lens here.

Why am I selling it?

Well, I decided to be honest with myself and admitted that I don't really need a macro lens. While I like the idea of having one, I rarely use it. The last time I needed macro capability was when I copied a whole bunch of slides off a lightbox. Now I have a film and slide scanner which makes this task much easier. Although I could (and do) still use the Vivitar as a portrait lens, I have decided to get something more specialist for that purpose - like an FA77 Limited.

Thanks to all those who expressed interest. According to etiquette, it went to the first person who offered to buy it (and who later followed up with payment).
