[SOLD] K20D and Lens (Tokina AT-X 28-70/2.8, FA50/1.7, Kiron 105/2.8 Macro, M*300/4 +

For sale is a unique K20D package with some difficult to find lenses. The K20D is in excellent condition with almost no marks on the body or LCD. There is so very minor paint loss on the top of the flash shoe and a little light wear on the bottom near the tripod mount, but both are very minor and do not at all detract from the condition of the body. The shutter count is about 24-25k. The camera comes with the original box, strap, cables, manual, charger and the original and an extra generic battery. Asking $400 for the body. On hold, pending payment early next week

The lenses that can be included in this package (which are also available separately) are the following:

Tokina AT-X 28-70/2.8 in excellent condition. The focus and zoom ring are very smooth. This is a very solid lens and comes with the original caps and hood. $325.

***Tokina 28-70/2.8 listing moved here.***

Pentax FA 50/1.7 in excellent condition with the exception of the serial number label is missing. On these lenses the serial number was attached via a sticker that could fall off over time. This is the second time I've seen it happen (the other was with an F series lens). It obviously does not have any impact on it's functionality, but I wanted to mention it. The lens comes with generic caps and a Tiffen hood. $225. SOLD

Kiron 105/2.8 Macro (w/ "A" setting) in excellent condition. The focus on this lens is perfectly smooth. The slide out hood works great as well. There are a few marks in the lettering (which is common), but overall it's pretty minor as you can see in the pictures. This is a fantastic MF macro lens in very nice shape. Comes with an original Kiron front cap and a generic rear. $325. SOLD

Pentax M*300/4 in excellent condition overall. There are a few minor rub marks on the slide out hood, but other than that it's a very clean lens. Focus is smooth, aperture is fast and snappy. Comes with original Pentax caps and a Pentax leather hard case (the case is in fair condition, but it still functional). $475. SOLD

Pentax 2X-S Rear Converter in like-new condition. The converter looks practically unused. It comes with original caps and a leather hard case that's also in excellent shape. This would pair well with the above M*300, or any other lens including newer lenses as it has the "A" contacts to pass aperture information to the body. $125. SOLD

Shipping is a flat $10 fee within the US for as many items as you'd like to buy. For shipping outside the US, please PM me for a quote.

Kiron 105/2.8 Macro

Hi, I'm a new forum member and can't send PMs yet, but I would love to buy the Kiron 105/2.8 Macro off you.

I'm based in the UK (London) so if you could let me know the shipping cost I'd be very grateful.

I hope I can at least receive PMs :-)

Pm replied.

Just in case you can't read the PM (I think you should be able to), here's the quick summary:

Shipping via insured Express Mail runs $39 and would take 3-4 days to get to you.

Shipping via First Class Air Mail, which is not insurable nor trackable, would cost around $18 and would take about 2 weeks.

For a $300+ lens, and the ~$20/10 day difference in shipping costs/transit time, I'd be inclined to recommend the first option.

From what I have read, there are a few different versions of the tokina 28-70. Which do you have for sale?

The lens for sale is a Tokina 28-70mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro. It's the version with the screw in hood and 77mm filter size. It has a AF/MF clutch and a constant f/2.8 max aperture. Not sure if that helped or not, but if you have a specific link or need more info to differentiate the version, let me know.

Since there were so many different versions of the 28-70, its hard to find pictures from a particular version. Do you have any sample pictures taken with your lens? In particular, any that demonstrate wide-open performance?

I'm really interested in comparing it to my 24-70. How is it compared to your 28-75?

I can try to take some sample shots later this afternoon (including some wide open shots) if I have some free time. I don't have any specific test shots of the Tokina vs the Tamron, but they both perform well wide open, although I'd probably give the edge in pure wide open sharpness to the Tamron. FWIW, both lenses are significantly sharper than the FA*28-70/2.8 wide open, especially at the long end. The build of the Tokina is fantastic, and the feel of manually focusing this lens is significantly better than the Tamron. The Tamron, on the other hand, is smaller and more compact.

In terms of different version, I don't think there are actually that many versions of the Tokina 28-70/2.8. As far as I can tell there is only one 28-70/2.8 with a 77mm thread size and a screw in hood. I believe the latest version (AT-X SV) has a plastic body and bayonet hood as opposed to this copy having a metal body and screw in hood. There were several variants with smaller filter sizes and non-constant apertures, but those are less expensive models, typically with lower IQ. If you have any links describing the difference (I only found a little info trying to google it just now), please let me know.

Here are a few samples, all taken wide open at f/2.8. They were taken at three focal lengths; 28mm, ~45mm, 70mm. There are reduced full size shots, followed by 100% crops. All shots were taken with the K-x at ISO 500 using AF. All shots are default JPEGs from camera. The only PP done was a slight adjustment of the levels on the first two sets of shots since they were a little underexposed.
