[SOLD] Nikon 70-200mm/2.8 VR1, 70-300mmVR

Hi everyone,

For sale are two Nikon VR telephoto zooms in EX+ condition.

First up is my Nikon 70-200/2.8 VR1. This lens was serviced last week by Nikon El Segundo under warranty for a sticky zoom ring. Their work notes state:

QuoteQuote:
Service Repair Rank C

RPL RUBBER RING
LUB ZOOMING MECHANISM
LUB FOCUSING MECHANISM
CKD APERATURE OPERATION
CKD INFINITY FOCUS
CDK EXPOSURE
GENERAL CHECK & CLEAN
The lens is now in EX+ condition both cosmetically and operationally. Includes all original box, papers, accessories, etc. I am asking $1400. Shipping, insurance, and PP fees are on me. SOLD!

***

Next up is my Nikon 70-300 VR AF-S. This lens is in EX condition, both operationally and cosmetically. There is a (very) slight rub mark on the edge of the hood near the hood bayonet, and one visible speck of dust inside the front element. Includes all original box, papers, accessories, etc. I am asking $375. Shipping, insurance, and PP fees are on me.

***

For both items I will use the shipper of your choice from among UPS Ground, FedEx Ground, and USPS Priority. If you want faster shipping, you pay the difference.

I do not accept PP Gift, so don't ask. Prices are relatively firm, but you can hit me with reasonable offers. Photos of the lenses are available upon request, but you can trust my assessment with regard to cosmetics.

Thanks!

Saw this on FM. Can I ask why you sold the 70-200? I'm shopping for that length now, so any input you have is appreciated.

I sold it because I had three lenses in the same focal length (70-200/2.8VR, 70-300VR, Sigma 100-300/4). I decided the Sigma gave me the IQ and range I needed for what I used the lenses for (motorcycle racing). The 70-200/2.8 is indubitably a better lens in terms of ultimate sharpness, AF speed, and of course having VR, but the 100-300/4 was $550 (in one of my better eBay scores) vs $1400 for the 70-200/2.8... I just wouldn't use both enough to justify owning both, so it was an easy call.

Anyway, the 70-200 is a stellar lens and prices are coming down due to the release of the II version. You can sometimes get a slightly more banged up copy than mine for as low as $1250 if you watch FM closely. I recommed it highly if you've got the coin to spend.

Here are some shots I took with the lens at the Denver Zoo last summer: Denver Zoo! - deadwolfbones' Photos

And there are also some from Mt. Evans here (mixed in with shots from other lenses): Mt Evans etc - deadwolfbones' Photos

Thanks for the tips. I'm stuck, as I'm doing portraits, but am starting sports this spring, so I suppose I'm in the same boat. Explains why I'm glued to ebay and FM and even Craigslist lately.
