Item Description
This lens is getting minimal quality time these days, since acquiring my super telephoto. Therefore I’m going to sell it and direct the funds to other photographic gear, etc. This is a gem of a lens and I have more than a few images to prove it. I’ve taken multiple published images with it, including private & public collections.

The glass is pristine on the front and rear lens elements. There are a couple of very small internal dust specks that are difficult to see and were there when I bought it – no impact on image quality. Aperture blades are snappy, no oil, no issues of any kind. Cosmetic condition: excellent – see photos. The initial images of the lens I’ve posted were taken a couple of years ago – basically there is little change in its cosmetic condition.

NOTE: there are NO focusing issues – no FF or BF. This lens has very accurate focusing, even on a K10D. With the limiter switch and a newer body, you’ll be very happy with its performance.

The sale includes the following:

1. Pentax FA* 300/2.8 lens + lens hood. Excellent condition.
2. Original Pentax lens case with carry strap plus filter kit and working drop-in 43mm filter holder.
3. Includes the 112mm PF filter that is part of the original kit.
4. Leatherette hood bonnet to cover the hood/lens.
5. Lens coat with Realtree Max 4 HD camouflage pattern in very good condition. Great for protecting the lens hood (typically the most abused part on a lens) and portions of the barrel – see images. It’s made for Sigma 300/2.8, but fits the Pentax version too). MSRP $90.
6. Wimberley P30 lens plate, Arca-Swiss compatible. Excellent condition. MSRP $55.
7. Lowepro Transporter strap.

Price: $3675 + shipping/insurance. Shipping: will ship only to CONUS via 2-day. PayPal is preferred to protect both parties. Insurance for the full value of this lens is mandatory – no exceptions. This will protect both buyer and seller.

NOTES: I will consider someone outside the US, but the buyer is responsible for any and all costs associated with shipment by courier – I will not use US Postal service to ship this lens. The customs forms now in use are much more involved than before.

You are welcome to test this lens for up to 3 days. However, it's being shipped in perfect working order. It will also be very well packaged to protect it.

There is no buyers’ remorse for the purchase - returns will be accepted ONLY for a serious unforeseen issue and that is why it will be fully insured. This lens was always handled with great care when shooting in the field. I believe it would be hard to find a better copy of this lens out there.

Hi Dave,

I've used the Tamron 1.4x Pz-AF MC4, Pentax-F 1.7x AF TC, 2X-S and the 1.4X-L converters. I cannot be certain if I used the 2X-L.

The results are usually very good - several of my hummingbird images used the Tamron 1.4x and the Civil War images with the 1.7x TCs. It's a great travel combination with those 2 TCs, no question.
