Item Description
I call this one Frankenstein, my Sigma 400mm APO prime manual focus telephoto 'A' aperture lens.
Let's be honest, it looks like shizzle, but it performs rather well for the hard life it has apparently had.
I purchased it from a forum member who fully disclosed all it's issues.

*including the fact the A setting did not work.
I revived that function by swapping the electronics from a donor lens and it works peachy now, except it believes it is a 4-22 aperture lens rather than the 5.6-32 it was dsigned to be.
This does not seem to affect metering and it actually has brighter images than some of my other perfectly functioning lenses so no exposure compensation is necessary. You just need to know that it is lying to you about what stop was used when you read the exif.

*As pretty much all examples of this lens that have survived, this one exhibits the internal lens haze/spots attributed to cement deterioration on the focusing element, so pictures may be a little less contrasty but I have not noticed it much and it can be fixed in PP.
Front and rear elements are clean with no scratches.

*The focusing ring has absolutely no damping of it's own, so I have gone to using an external elastic focus damper which I will include with the lens, it can be seen in a couple of the pictures. OK it's a rubber band.

I've gotten some great shots with this lens and it still has a long life ahead of it but I have gone on a lens shopping spree lately and this guy is just sitting. It will make a great first long telephoto for those wanting to try a long lens, as it did for me.

I have priced it just to recoup my costs and the donor lens operation.
Will ship with neoprene hood cap and third party rear cap.

Send me a PM if you want it. Will ship right away but I will be gone this weekend.

Photos and samples to follow.

Look at that Gem of a lens! Glad you could get the contacts in there and get it working again - no luck with the AF I guess! I'll vouch for the optics (being the forum member who sold it last), don't judge this book by it's cover!

Hi Paul, this was always a manual lens, not AF as there are no AF mechanics in it.
The spot you thought was a broken AF screw drive was actually just a severely stripped mount screw.
I've got it back to it's somewhat original glory and enjoyed using it for some great shots. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to own this Gem
