The FA*300/4.5 is of course meant for something far, like birds and sports. But it does pretty well for street photos too:

Your pictures aren't working for me... There's just blue boxes with question marks.

How would you say this lens compare to the DA* version?

Given the choices, I'd go with F/FA*300/4.5 for its smaller size and better built quality (IMO). I did a comparison before, Optically the difference is minimum.

They're somewhat similar in size. The DA*50-135 is 136mm long and the FA*300 is 160mm long (about an inch longer). They are essentially the same diameter too (73mm vs 76mm) and share the same 67mm filter threads. The hoods are also comparable in size.

So overall, slightly bigger than the 50-135, but only by about an inch in length and very similar is other respects.

I don't have a comparison photo between FA*300 and DA*50-135, but on paper it's just 24mm longer and 159g heavier than the DA*. It's definitely not a big lens:

BTW, the lens showing in this photo is exactly the same lens I'm selling

A few more photos from the FA*300/4.5:

This lens is wicked sharp. I wouldn't have parted with mine except I acquired Marc's 300/2.8. Good luck with the sale!

Wish I could afford the FA*300/2.8 ...

Got a few offers already, let's see how it goes.

Here are a few more shots taken by FA*300:
