Hi, this is for Ricoh 35mm Film auto "P" mount, there are two types, one with a pin ( no go on Pentax AF bodies) and the other one with an electronic contact.
I have Vivitar Macro 2x Tele-converter with "P" setting , that one is OK it is just a contact, obviously "P" setting will not give any automation on Pentax DSLR, the lens has to be used in M with stop down metering.
I did have Kiron lens with the pin and it did get jammed on my KX, took me hours to free it using thin razor blade.
What kind is yours, have you actually successfully used it with any Pentax DSLR body?
kind regards
jack

this works great on pentax digital

This version doesn't have the problem pin you mentioned and all the shots in the link I've posted were taken either on my k20d or k10d.
And thanks for the Rikoh info.[COLOR="Silver"]

What a killer lens! UNMATCHED by any consumer grade MF lens in a matching focal range. And yes, this piece has a really good 1:2.5 macro ratio!

I am also surprised that this piece is still available, what a masterful piece!!!

Does it function in A mode (with flash, metering), or is it plain M type with all manual? (On a DSLR)

Is it reasonably sharp and contrasty wide open? E.g. i've owned sigma 70-300 apo and now pentax 50-200 and they both are far from optimum wide open.

How well does it handle stray light, does it need a hood?

wow, pepe nice shots there.
and ytterbium as for your questions
M mode with all manual? (on a Ricoh film camera apparently the "p" mode is automatic metering)
I'd say yes, it's quite sharp and contrasty wide open, but that's subjective. Most of the photos I shot here are wide open:

How well does it handle stray light, does it need a hood? - sorry, haven't noticed this one at all, I rarely use hoods in general.
Hope that all helps and all the best.
