For sale is a very rare Pentax F 50mm macro f2.8 in excellent + condition. There are minor signs of use in the barrel, other than that it looks very clean. I have two copies and am willing to let go one. I bought the second copy fearing if something will go wrong with the first one. I will post the pictures later today.
I believe it is one of the sharpest lens ever made in any system.
It comes with original rear cap and a generic front cap.

This magnificent lens is still for sale. Photodo rates it as the sharpest pentax lens (4.6) along with A*85 1.4 and F 50 1.4. Please remember, this is the rare 'F' version.

I'm surprised no one is jumping on this one. I recently got a hold of a mint copy of that lens and love it . Around the same time as I purchased My F 50 macro I got a hold of a F 100 macro in near mint condition but had to return it to seller because of fungus

. How I love the look and feel of those F series lenses. Good luck on the sale of a great lens.

Zeiss Macro 50mm f/2 ZK Makro-Planar T* Manual Focus Lens
...just cant find anyone with 1st and experience

I haven't tested the zeiss Macro 50mm, so can't comment on it. But, I would be surprised if you could get another pentax glass that could better this one in sharpness.
This is a rarer version than FA and is optically identical to the FA. I have had a chance to use both of them and personally, I prefer the F version. It looks vintage.

What makes this lens so rare? Do you have any documented evidence to say F 50/2.8 Macro is rare? I am just curious, at any rate a bump for this lens from one who owns F 100/2.8 Macro, which I don't think is as rare as the 50.

Thanks for the bump excanonfrd. I don't know what documented evidence means here. I have read on the web that F 50mm macro f2.8 was the first 50mm AF lens made by pentax and was in production only from 1988-90.
But, I for sure know that one could easily pick up a FA 50 macro. I read that they were in production for a longer period of time. I have seen 4-5 for sale in the last 2 months, maybe more. I haven't come across any (maybe one?) F version in the past year in the market place. Even, a cursory search in ebay would throw up several FA macros, but not the F version.
Does the rarity makes it better than the FA version? Certainly not. They have the same optics. However, IMHO, the F version looks more attractive when you have it attached to your body.

I had never seen this lens on sale until now. Some of the F series lenses are going rare and rare. Pentax 50mm/100mm F2.8 Macro, 85mm/135mm F2.8, 300mm/600mm all are in my dream list.
