Can that actually attach to a digital Pentax body? Looks like the tripod mount might get in the way.

I suppose you could loosen the tripod collar and let the lens spin inside it while you twist it onto the camera then tighten the collar once it is on. The TC would help as well to get the collar in front of the prism (I think that is what it is).

Tempting to hold me over for a little while....

I've never had any problem with the tripod ring on the Super Takumar 300/4.0. I use generic m42 adapters with the spring removed and the adapter torqued on to the lens with a K mount rear lens cap. Where this integral tripod ring becomes a problem is when I use a flanged m42 adapter ( no infinity, shorter MFD), I cannot access the lens release button on the K20D because the knob sits over the lens release button, simply rotating the tripod ring out of the way solves that problem. Some reviewers of this lens complained of it being heavy, I thought it light - it's the second lightest next to my Tamron SP 54B, 300/5.6 - and balances very well when hand held. littledrawe, if you are looking for a longish telephoto lens at a budget price, you can't go wrong with this one.
