This lens has been my walkaround for a while now, and I've taken some great shots with it. I've made 16x 24 prints and was amazed by the detail. The zoom does extend when you point it down, but that's what the lock is for. I've never been dissapointed to have this as the glued-to-the-camera lens.

Price droppped to $85. Talk about a bang-for-buck lens.
Also comes with a promaster uv filter.
