Item Description
I have a FA* lens that I have been considering selling, and I thought I would entertain offers here on PF before putting it on ebay.

The optics of this lens are still great, the glass is clean, no haze, minimal dust. There is one light surface scratch on the front element of around half a centimetre. The lens has definitely been used – the body paint is scuffed & scratched from use (see photos). Aperture is snappy, no oil on blades.

So here’s the ‘but’ – it works in autofocus mode, but when you switch to manual focus (by way of the ‘clutch’ the lens has) the ring just spins and doesn’t engage the focus mechanism. Something is not engaging, or a part inside the clutch is loose or worn. I was thinking of seeing how much to get it fixed and then sell it, but I thought some people here on PF might be do-it-themselves repair aficionados. Again, it works in autofocus mode (see photo sample I shot today in the back yard – handheld, f4.5, 200 iso – cropped to the centre so you can see the quality.)

I know why people like this lens – sharp, good contrast & colours. Comes with front & back caps, and lens hood (which is also scratched and scuffed, but goes on fine).

This is my first product listing here, so bear with me if I am missing anything.

Please message me with questions or offers. If it doesn't sell here, I will probably sell it on ebay - but I might see how much to get it fixed first.

For those ok with just autofocus or who are good at fixing lenses, this is an opportunity to buy this lens for less than the average shown in the PF lens database. I will pack it carefully.
