200mm f3.3 Manual Prime

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
200mm f3.3 Manual Prime

Asking Price
$20 AU

Item Location
Sydney (Australia)

Item Description
This is a 'Makinon' lens that I don't know much about.
It would suit a collector, but it also takes nice images, particularly at f5.6 or lower, f3.3 is a bit soft.

The manual focus throw is very long and thus precise, the whole lens feels quite nice, and isn't too heavy considering it's a fast 200 prime with all metal body.
It has a built in hood. Obviously it's priced to sell because I know so little about it. Who knows it could be worth hundreds...

Hi guys,
There is some internal dust between the front and second elements yes, nothing that affects image quality.
Rear element and the tunnel into it seem reasonably dust free.

I took some test shots for the benefit of someone who PMed me - if he says he wants it, it is his first but here they are. Sorry about the dodgy lighting and white balance, it's all I had. Look mainly at the edges of the frontmost silver oil cap - do not look at the writing of 'SUZUKI SPORT' because that is actually a soft edged font.
All photos taken on a K-x at 12MP jpeg and had their levels bumped up a bit because I couldn't get my flash going nicely and they're all a bit underexposed - so the levels have reduced the look of sharpness just slightly.
The full photos are not cropped by reduced to 45% of original size - the 100% crops are just that, not reduced at all.
Edit: Just noticed the forum reduces the size significantly... hmm, not sure how to get around that.

Anyway - in my opinion the lens is actually acceptable at 3.3 but nailing the focus (certainly in this light) is not easy - at 5.6 it is actually pretty darn sharp, and at f8.0 it is very very sharp, but that's hardly a big claim, as every prime is tack sharp by that point. But still, not a bad lens this and very solid feel to it, nice focus too.
