No: I have other lenses on which it works. The long converters.

(no expansion on these photos)

and the AF adapter

all work well, but are not included, as they also work well on my replacement for this lens -- the fa* 300/f2.8 They also work
well with the Pentax-A* 400f/2.8 which I bought this last winter as well. The "L" converter is a dedicated converter to the pentax exotic lenses because of the protruding optic that extended into the back of the lens.

by the way...

I bought one of these wonderful lenses about a year ago and here is a photo that was taken with the A * 300 2.8 and the 2x converter.
The price is really fair! Especially because it comes with the original case ... If I did not already have, I would buy here!

Image data: K5 / ISO800 / f 6.7 / 1/500 s A * 300 2.8 with 2x TC <> 600mm

...this time with the 1.7x AF-Adapter
image data: K5 / ISO400 / f 8 / 1/500 s A * 300 2.8 with 1.7x AF-TC <> 500mm

Pity that this beautiful piece of glass is so little observance...

If you can also dig up the cash for gimbal mount as shown here you can swing it either way with one hand....

I was never a huge fan of the F-1.7x converter, but I guess it works with it - ie autofocuses in most easy situations (from memory). The converter (in my experiences) degrades IQ with all lenses, including this one.

No fault of the lens, which is as good as anything you can get for the K-mount (and maybe other mounts too).

Just look a few lines above - there is a picture of grebes, shot with an A*300 2.8 with an 1.7x AF-TC
In my opinion the converter works fine with this lens. You lost not much IQ... But you have to pre-focus!
