Item for Sale
For Sale: Pentax-A 300mm f/2.8

Asking Price
$1,900 US
Item Location
Rainier, OR (United States)

Item Description
This is a long time friend of mine, but I bought an autofocus model the other day so she needs to go. Pentax A* 300 f/2.8 with leather front lense cap, trunk case. Shipping will cost a bunch as it's heavy and comes in a robust aluminum case.

Optics are excellent---no fungus, scratches etc. Mechanics are similarly excellent Focuses easily, etc. the tripod ring is missing paint in several places, but otherwise paint is good. I've had this one for a decade or more and it takes good pictures. There are two of thesefor sale elsewhere at the present time for more You will love this lens. You would have to pry it out of my dead fingers but for the FA*300 that I bought the other day.

This is the first time I've seen the case. My bicep is not worthy :-) Awesome lens.

You can use it pretty easily with a monopod. This is a shot of a Big horn sheep east of St. George, Utah using a monopod
and a 1.4x-L converter taken a few years ago with my K10. It works fairly well actually. I took this snapshot in 2008 when I was headed
east out of St. George heading toward the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Head a chance encounter withh a herd of sheep along the road and soon found myself running out among the rocks looking for a vantage point, sort of like the guys in the wild west movies, except I had this lens on a monopod with a 1x4x-L converter and a K10 instead of a Winchester.

I own the same lens and it produces smooth oof at wide open apertures. Great for isolating subjects.

It weights about 3 kg. that is good for those who wants to work their muscle out. lol.

It seem like no one wants an exotic aluminum trunk lens these days. shipping this thing out of North American would cost a king's ransom
but i'd consider it.... I've been surprised that this piece of glass has been hanging around the market place so long.

This would be amazing for my astrophotography use. I would honestly love to take this off your hands. I don't mean to post and not buy, because I WANT to buy, but I will watch this for as long as I can while you still have it. Maybe I'll win big soon! SEMPER FI and good luck.

If I haven't bought this lens already (recently for a fellow member), I would have jumped at the offer.

The lens gives remarkablely sharp images wide open. It works very well with the AF 1.7X converter too.
