Bump has a 2-fold purpose:

1) to showcase an excellent seller

2) makes it easier for me to find this thread so that I can drool over new possibilities for my D700

Someone should pick up a used D90 just to buy & shoot that Sigma 100-300 f4 HSM on. It's a fantastic combo.

From mine:

Thanks Jent

This sale is just to pare down the Nikon collection a bit. I went a bit overboard when I first got the D700 and now I'm just selling off the "excess". Plus, I did pick up a third system (on top of Pentax and Nikon) to play around with, but it wasn't a Fuji. I ended up buying a Sony A850 and a handful of AF Zeiss lenses to go with it; it was a good deal, I was powerless to say no

Oh! and I should have guessed... Those Zeiss lenses are pricey, so I can definitely see why you're slimming your Nikon selection down a little. Did you happen to get the 24mm prime? That one really makes me look longingly, on FF especially.

You're right about that, they're not cheap! The sale of these Nikon lenses is to directly to fund the Sony/Minolta glass I just bought.

I actually held off on the 24/2 for now as I was able to work out a trade with someone and ended up with the Zeiss 16-35/2.8 instead. Otherwise there's a good chance I would have tried the 24/2/ In fact, there's a somewhat well priced copy at a local camera store, but even I know I don't need the 16-35/2.8 and the 24/2

Anyway, here's a cross-posted picture (from the latest acquisitions thread) of my new Sony/Minolta lenses

left to right: 16-35/2.8, 35/1.4, 50/1.4, 85/1.4, 135/1.8

Of course you could probably pick up this 100-300/4 AND a used D90 for not much more than the price of a used Sigma 100-300/4 in Pentax mount.

It appears like you've got the bases covered pretty well! In your estimation, now that you've got the D700 and the A850, is FF worth it (weight and size wise)?
