PRICE DROP! Sigma 50-500 EX Bigma

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Sigma 50-500 EX (TC is sold)

Asking Price
$750 for Bigma - Price Drop

Item Location
Houston, TX (United States)

Item Description
This is the original Bigma, the Sigma 50-500mm F4-6.3 APO RF. I've had this lens for 5 years, and it's served me well. I decided to upgrade(?) to the newest version, the BigmOS, so this one needs to go. (As I was going through my shots taken with this Bigma, I'm wondering what I was thinking when I decided to "upgrade".) Anyway, my financial folly is your gain!

The lens and teleconverter are in great shape, with no marks on the lens or elements, and no flaking on the paint/finish. The zoom lock did stick once, but following advice here I took the cover off the switch and realigned the switch and it works fine now. I bought the lens and TC used in 2007, so even though I think the lens/TC is in great shape, I've listed it as "GOOD" just on general principle. Also, you can assume there is dust inside the lens. I personally don't look or check for that as I don't think it causes problems. But since I had an ebay transaction once where a buyer wanted to return a lens because he saw "two or three specks of dust inside the zoom", I'll just save us both the trouble and say there are probably 2 or 3 or more specs of dust inside the zoom. I included a shot through the lens from both directions. I noticed there was a piece of lint on the TC, but I assume it will fall off in transit. Both lens and TC come with their cases, and the lens has it's strap, which I use since the lens will put a strain on the camera mount if it's not supported.

You win! I've dropped the price to $750. Jump on it now!

Here are some pictures taken with just the 50-500 on either the K100D, K20D, or K5.

Here are a couple with the 50-500 and the 1.4x teleconverter.

You can see the full sized shots of the lens, and those taken with the lens combo in my Flickr set here.

I'll pay the shipping to ship within the US. If you want it outside the US, I'll charge you the shipping. PM me for shipping info as I have no idea what it costs to send thing elsewhere. The lens and TC will come in their original boxes with papers and warranty card (though obviously there's no warranty).

So, that's it. Here's your chance to get the most reach for your buck! With the SR on Pentax bodies, this lens is a no-brainer. Buy it and have fun!

Did I mention this lens is in great shape? Comes in the original box with papers (of course, there's no warranty, but you'll have the paper).

Still available. Free shipping to US and Canada. PM me for shipping elsewhere (maybe it's free where you are, too).

Cheapest way to get quality 500mm reach, and you get a zoom to boot!

Did I mention the creamy smooth bokeh? Who would've thought a superzoom would do this?

Russ,
Can you check something for me with this lens? I may be interested in it, but I need to know:

Doe's the "AF/MF" switch on the lens send the "AF Off" signal to the body and disengage the bodies AF drive while the body is still in AF mode?

Most newer Sigma's do, some of the older ones do not. This is something pretty important to me as I do not use AF on longer lenses but do use CIF...

Thanks

Hey Joe,

No, it doesn't send a signal to the body. If you put the lens in MF, but the body's still in AF, the motor will spin but the lens doesn't focus.
