I don't think so, because that part of the camera is designed to be user interchangable. This issue have been discussed in this Forum a few time before. I alway take the "other" screens out before sending in the camera for calibration and have zero complain from Pentax.

Ec-A is sold.

The Ec-A screen for K5 is sold to a Forum member in Ontario, Canada. Thank you.

PS: My own experience is the K5 & K7 focusing screens are the same.

So I guess no need to sand anything down on the screen? It just pops in straight out of the box?

Installation

That's right. Both fit perfectly. The Focusingscreen.com online instructions are fairly clear, but I find KatzEye has better photo illustrations to follow. Also, they included 2 bags of shim with the Canon Ec-A, but the Nikon K3 kit has only 1 bag of shim.

They have about the same brightness under most lighting condition. KatzEye seems to be more precise in very dim light such as 60W household tungsten. I would say if you are a DIYer, go for Focusingscreen.com stock. KatzEye has great services all around including installation/calibration, but $$$.
