Item for Sale
Sigma 100-300mm f/4 APO EX IF

Asking Price
825€ ($1,100 / £700)

Item Location
Paris (France)

Item Description
Hello,

To make a long story short, I'm switching most of my tele lenses and macros to Nikon mount (I'll be keeping the K-5 and some limited primes as a high-quality compact and light system).

So I offer here for trade, or sale, my Sigma 100-300mm f/4. I would prefer a trade, with some cash adjustment to be discussed, if need be, against those lenses only:
. FA31 Ltd
. Nikon mount Sigma 150mm f/2.8 macro OS (OS version only)
. Nikon mount Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 OS (OS version only)

Otherwise, the sale price is 825€ / $1,100 / £700, which is close to $400 less than what this one sold for.

The glass is flawless, there's very little internal dust that I can see, if at all, coating seems unblemished, the blades are clean.
The barrel, tripod lens collar and hood are also in pretty good nick, with no scuffs or scratches (the lens has never suffered any knocks), except that in 3 or 4 places some of the painting has started to peel off - that dreaded Sigma EX coating! I can send details pictures of those blemishes to those interested.

Zoom and focus rings turn smoothly, AF is pretty fast for a lens in this category - if memory serves me right, noticeably faster than the Tamron and Sigma 70-200/2.8 I've compared it with.

On my K-5 it needs the AF adjusted to +5, my Tamron 70-200/2.8 needs +6, and the FA*80-200 I sold earlier, +8. So maybe this says more about the body than the lens.
With that adjustment, the 100-300/4 easily beats those 2.8 zooms with 1.4x TC attached.
I also have an FA*300/4.5, I couldn't see any difference in sharpness between the two.

The lens comes with original lens caps and hood, tripod collar, and the Sigma soft pouch.

Here's a picture of a hummingbird I took in Honduras (sorry, ISO 5000 and f/8 only as I needed both the DOF and the speed to freeze the wings - I can send you the originals but if you need others I'lll go shoot some sparrows in the park down the street):

And some pictures of the lens:

Hi Karsten,

I've replied by PM: shipping would be 23€, as for most of Europe.
I'll wait for a swap with one of the lenses I mentioned earlier, if that doesn't happen soon then I'll sell the lens.

I absolutely adore this lens (on my D700). Amazing glass!

Good luck with the trade/sale.

Not at all.

High-ISO performance (and Nikon's auto-ISO implementation) is so good that I just fire away.

Some FF examples:

Free bump for a great seller and some epic glass. I haven't seen one of these for sale in forever.

There should (will?) be another Pentax mount Sigma rarity for sale at some point , but I don't know exactly when.
