I imagine then that there is a focusing ring on that teleconverter ?

Edit: and I do not see it in the picture.

no focus ring on the TC. You manually focus the manual focus lens.

Actually the lens elements within the teleconverter move and you set the manual focus lens to inifinity. It will make a manual focus lens autofocus

The TC comes with KAF mount ( has the "screw " ) on the body side ,KA mount on the lens side . The "screw" is what provides the auto focus function via the AF motor in the body via moving the element-group .

lol... I guess you didn't realize I own one, had said similar earlier, and was answering a question about whether the TC has a focus ring.

Though Chris, I found it doesn't work that way. Well, maybe it does with some lenses ; I assume then that might be so on lenses that have a 'short throw' on the focus ring. If so, I'll have to start revising what I say when people ask about how it works. It definitely doesn't work that way with my Voigtlander 125mm, with its near 720 degree rotation from min to max focus points. With that lens, I have to get the focus close, only then can the TC take over.

Gents, you have me confused well

OP states: "The Pentax 1.7x auto focus adapter can makes Pentax manual focus lens to AUTOFOCUS"

Now is that: TRUE or FALSE or between

or amI so dumb? ;-)

yes [edit: i.e. TRUE] -- dantuyhoa details it ... dunno what's making you think anyone said different but don't worry about it.

Does this TC work with M42 takumars, where M42 adapter is used?

Tks,

You got me there, those macro lenses are much much much... ok impossible to auto-focus with that teleconverter with my said method. My co-woker uses it on his manual 300F4 and it works like a charm! Set it for infinity and bam the AF tele grinds it in the rest of the way.

If i remembered correctly, to use it, you must set the focus ring to infinity. If the object is too close or AF is not reached, shorten the focus ring a little bit.
It 's just what i read, never had exp with this 1.7x TC.

Well, the 1.7x TC certainly can't make a manual focus lens to an AUTOFOCUS one

But if you put the 1.7x AF TC between a manual focus lens (w/ max aperture of F4 or faster, sometimes even F5.6 if light condition is good) and your dSLR camera, this combo will be able to do auto focusing within certain range. You can turn the focusing ring on the lens to alter the "certain range", and within that range, this 1.7x TC will do AF for you

If it works with m42 lenses, does that mean it also works with the 645 and 67 lenses with adaptors?

Base on the way this 1.7x TC works, I can't see why it won't work with 645 or 67 lenses w/ adapters. As the image circle of these lenses are bigger than 135mm lenses and DA lenses, I guess it'd be easier for the TC to do the AF job
