PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Vivitar Series 1 105mm 1:1 Macro f/2.5 (legendary lens)

Item Description

Well, the time has come to part with the prize of my first round of lenses. This is the good version (serial # 22905684) of a legendary lens. Body looks good with only minimal cosmetic marks. Nothing noticeable. Focus is smooth.

The glass elements look clean and good but there are specs on one of the inner elements. At first I thought it was just dust but I can't be sure. Anyone with more experience than me can check the photos below. I don't notice any impact on IQ whenever I was shooting something real, but before I listed it I took a couple more test photos on a white sheet and white bandana and I did notice it. The WORST photo I could take is shown last below (unedited, f/3.2, 1/100s, 800 iso, at about 1:2 magnification, side lit).

I can say that I've owned the lens for 2 years and kept it indoors in a dry, air conditioned house, and it was never abused. It had some dust in it when I got it and I can't say that what I see now is significantly different. There are only spots, no branching or haziness at all.

So, because of my caution, I'm only asking $250 (shipping/fees included) but am open to offers given that I can't be sure what's going on in there. I'm trying to be as fair as possible so just communicate with me and we can work something out. Comes with both caps.

Element with dust (i think)

Shot with little to no IQ issues

There was a batch of these being sold as new old stock circa 2007. From the condition of this one I suspect its one of them. Fantastic macro, heartily recommend.

One of my most used macro lens. I own voigtlander macro and A200 macro as well. The vivitar 105 produces stunning images and is great as a portrait lens. For that price point, its a steal. I bought mine those days from trader Jim.

Yes, Trader Jim, I was trying to recollect the name of the ebay seller that sold those new old stock Viv S1 Macros. They came brand spanking new in the original leather case, boxed and with that fresh from the factory smell. A blast from the past! Still have mine.

It's a bargain at that price. I have two copies so no need for a 3rd one.
