Item Description
It's hard to part with this superb camera and these great lenses but I am downsizing - physically - to a smaller system, namely Olympus Pen F's. The skinny on the camera & lenses I am selling: a K200D in excellent conditon; a 17-50 f/2.8 Tamron zoom, also in excellent shape; and a rarely seen and IMHO severely under-rated zoom, the Tamron 28-200 f/3.8-5.6 which has the further virtues of both a Macro mode and being exceedingly compact (short) for a zoom. It's a sweet and, in my experience, high IQ package. I believe I am the second owner on all three of these items. Also included is the Kata 3N1-20 Sling/Backpack, in near new condition, one of the coolest and most functional photo bags I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

The K200D has approx 2,500 actuaizations (is that the right word?) on it; this translates into light-to-moderate use. Ditto for both Tammy lenses. In terms of street value and individual prices, good copies of the Tammy 17-50 seem to go for between $350-400; good K200D bodies between 2 and 3 hundred with average pricing close to $250; the 28-200 Tammy zooms are hard to find and a bargain for around $100; finally the Kata combo Sling/Packs are going for between 50 and 75.

I've owned and shot with Pentax cameras for nearly 4 decades and, all things considered, this K200D has to be one of the seriously nicest Pentaxes I've ever used. It's a ridiculously great camera for many reasons; and these lenses, while bulkier than mini primes, are truly fine. I'll miss them.

Bump

Bump.....and price lowered. This camera and lens combo takes astoundingly great pictures.....I think I must be insane to sell it. But closet space is at a premium and I'm not using it enough. Sigh.

first it is 17-50 not 16-50
second it is 28-200 not 18-200

OOOOPS.

Thankx, Liukatic.

Change has been made.

I'm having seller's remorse and I haven't even sold this yet.

Went on a long camping trip this weekend at Lassen National Park. Lugged the K200D around for miles and miles of trails, with the Tamron 17-50 lens on it. Which reminded me of why I decided to sell it in the first place: it's a great camera.....but I want something smaller and lighter.

Then today I just looked at the pictures I took. In a word.....they are fantastic.

The 17-50 is a brilliantly great lens.

And the K200D has a great imaging engine and does fantastic IQ.

So now I'm having seller's remorse. Wondering if I should keep the lens......but downsize the K200D for something smaller and lighter weight (though alas probably neither weather sealed, weatherproofed, or built to the same tank-like standards). The only other Pentax body that comes to mind is.....

The K-X.

Anyone have an extra K-X body that they would consider as a trade / partial trade - for my fantastic K200D body?

The K200d and 17-50mm was what I took on my Asia trip a few years ago. Served me well. Unless you are switching systems, I would keep the lens...I kind of want it back (I sold it and got the 16-50mm DA*).

Have to agree with you. It's a brilliant, stunning lens, which produces amazing images. Definitely superior to the kit 18-55 Pentax lens - which btw has very high quality itself.

Bump: lowered Price

Bump to reflect lowered price. Everyone knows how great the Tammy 17-50 is. What many people don't realize is that the Tammy 28-200 is (IMHO) an underrated gem as well.
