Item Description
Here we have an M series 100mm f4 macro in lovely condition. There are a couple of very tiny wear marks on the barrel, but you have to be looking real hard to see them. There are the usual few dust specks on the inner elements. This has no effect on your results and is quite common in macro lenses. The glass itself is very clean and the aperture is snappy and oil free. No fungus, no separation. Also included is a rather nifty type of lens hood which I've become rather fond of, and that I've started equipping more and more of my lenses with.
Some people don't like the fact this lens only goes to 1:2 magnification and vehemently cite 1:1 as if it were some sort of Holy Grail for macro lenses. I disagree. Add some extension tubes or a teleconverter and you're right up there.
However, that's not what I bought if for anyway! I was after the buttery smooth bokeh that comes with it's classic Heliar (5 elements in 3 groups) design and this lens will give you that in spades. Just for grins try googling "heliar hirohito". I also shoot large format and heliars command a premium price, Here's a multi-coated heliar in portrait length for the miniature formats. 'Nuff said!
Anyhow, payment is by PayPal and shipping (worldwide) is by CanadaPost at the buyer's expense.
Thanks,
Derek.

If this is the same design as the A 100 F4 macro... its a fine lens and the bokeh is smoooooth. Extension tubes will get you to here

Thanks Matt. Yep, there were half a dozen different f4 lenses in that focal length and I think they all used the heliar/dynar configuration. However, I believe there may have been some tweaking to the coatings when Pentax brought out the final A series. Still, K,M or A, they're all great lenses and I think you'd be hard-pressed to tell them apart.

Man I just wish the M series were auto aperture! They are absolutely wonderfully made, and their product of focus is a dream. Bump for a terrific lens, and one of the greatest lines of lenses ever made!

With macros, who needs Auto Aperture?

Very true! Most Macros shoot great as regular lenses too. Thats why I prefer Auto
