Pentax SMC-F 28mm f2.8

The lens MUST be in excellent optical and mechanical condition, and in very good cosmetic condition. (small sign of cosmetic wear is ok)
Thanks.

It doesn't surprise me that the price of this lens is going up - it's a stellar performer, and if Pentax ever releases a FF body you'll be happy to get it for $300, I'm afraid.

Lenses come and go around here, but my F28/2.8 lives on my K5 over 90% of the time.

Now here's my dilemma: should I get a used F28 f2.8 for $300 or a new DA35 f2.4 for $180 ???

I scored a NOS the other day for $169. Needless to say, I'm keeping it.

Nice! That was certainly a score!

I feel your pain...

For me the DA 35/2.4 is just a tad too narrow on APS-C, whereas 24-28mm is just right. I also shoot a lot of film, so something I can use on film bodies (older, manual ones) is more useful. I'd love an FA 24/2, but they're not cheap either.

I sold my F-28 here in M.P. a few months ago for about the same $300.00. Have owned FA35 f/2.0, and later DA 35 f/2.4, (all of them were sold now.) I found the F-28 was most useful for me, for both indoors and outsides usages. I also loved the shaprness of FA 35/2, although the DA35 wasn't too bad at all.

I think the F-28 is more like a collectable item, as well as a useful lens these days, also the FA-28, FA-20, FA20-35...etc. So, I think the DA 35 would be the most bang for the buck, plus I read somewhere is very similar optical to the FA35, hence maybe able to be used on Film.

If you want straight sharpness and great colors - the DA 35 2.4 is a bargain. It is extremely sharp for a very good price. I had one for a bit, but sold it because I didn't like the Bokeh that much. Sharpness and color though - terrific.
On the flip side of that - the F series lenses are built solid (aside from the filter ring!). They look good on the digital bodies, and unfortunately that 28 doesn't come around a ton. Check KEH if you can't find one here.

I have a F28 and I paid $300 for it about a year and a half ago. Overpriced at the time but I use it much more than any other lens. The Tammy 17-50 stays in the bag most of the time as it is big and heavy, relatively speaking. The F28 is small and light and the colors are beautiful. The focus is fast and accurate ( a little noisy, but just for that fraction of a second). It's the one lens I probably won't sell.

But would u sell the Tamron 17-50/2.8? I am looking for something like that since I splashed my DA*16-50 on a concrete floor
