I bought a used Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5 to replace a used Tamron 28-75 which proved to be not wide enough as a single-lens, i.e., "walk-around" lens. The Sigma is a decent performer that is generally wide enough and long enough to cover the basics. Wide enough for around town, long enough for people and building details...Mine has a little moustache distortion that I'm getting used to....
