I may get into trouble with the limited crowd, but this lens has a bit of pixie dust in it. I just bought one and it has sucked me back in to manual lenses. Bokeh is as good as the 50 1.4 but it is sharper than the 50 1.7. Very sweet lens.

K55 seems to be going for much more than the M42 55mm lenses.

Do M42 55mm f/1.8 lenses have pixie dust or just in the K55 ?

People want the K mount. The forum review states that the M42 versions (and there are 5) have 49mm threads while the K has 52. I've shot it this week with no hood and it has been very nice still (a bit of fringing on the bokeh circles). I have the 50 1.4, 1.7, and this and they all have their strengths, this one has the pop factor of the limiteds.
Because Cheeky is a Nebraskan I am going to give him this plug - This picture I took tonight with my K-X wide open. No editing whatsoever. The original is very 3D. That is what I think this lens adds.

I just bought an FA 50 1.7, which is supposed to have that pixie dust thang (?). Otherwise, I would most definitely jump on this K55.
