Item Description
Here I have the wonderful
SMC Pentax DA* 200mm f2.8
I am selling it for needing the funds for my family situation.
For me this successfully replaced a Sigma 150-500mm - because although that Sigma was a good lens - I find with a 16.3mp sesnor, this could do the same job because it's so sharp that you can crop 2.5 times easily and effectively get the 500mm out of it. The advantages then over the Sigma are numerous:
Much more compact and light, as well as faster AF (MUCH faster than the Sigma past about 300mm)
At this price it's cheaper as well
It's f2.8 and although to get the sharpness if cropping to "500mm", you'll need f5.6 - that's still a bit faster than the Sigma, but mainly it's that f2.8 is there when you want it - whereas the Sigma is f5.0 even at the short end and gets slower from there, which means this can be used for things like portraits at 200mm, as well as just caputing light faster.
Disadvantages are: 150mm is not there when you need it - and DOF is increased (as in, less blurry background) by cropping rather than actually being that close.
Of course, replacing a huge telephoto may not be your intention for this lens - I have done all kinds of shots with it (including macros, because it's sharp enough to crop down to that too) - but yeah, it is so versatile I thought I'd mention how I used it as a smaller, lighter, better, replacement for the Sigma 150-500.
I could almost say "like new" on this - it really is spotless, but I say excellent because I don't have its original BOX. I do have the case, hood, front and rear caps. The photo of the front element isn't a great photo - I couldn't get them to come out properly but believe me, it's spotless, and I think the photo shows that purely from the fact you can't see the detail on the glass - there's nothing there to see.
I could go on and on about this lens - I really love it (but I love my family more haha).
All my best shots from it are on my old computer and I haven't gotten around to transferring them over - but I'm sure the new forums feature of being able to search by lens etc. will help you out there!
As I've said in the price already - the $850 assumes bank deposit. PAYPAL will be $10 extra - $860 in total.
OVERSEAS shipping is available but message me for prices etc.

Here is my evidence for this being useable as a super-telephoto, a replacement for something like the Sigma 150-500 (but much smaller and lighter).
The crops have sharpening but no saturation or vibrance adjustments at all - this colour is what came out of the camera in RAW.
The first picture is the whole shot, waaaay too far from this small Lorrikeet to be content with the 200mm. (Pentax K-5, f6.3, ISO 400, 1/1250th)

The secnd pic is the same shot but cropped to the exact equivalent of 500mm. Remember f6.3 is as fast as you could go with any lens shy of $2000.

The last pic is cropped to 1:1 (as in, to fit on the forum at full size) - 1020 x 1021, a massive 15.7x total crop. At that level. the detail isn't CRAZY but it's just a demonstration of what this lens is like as the equivalent to an
800mm f6.3! I actually think it'd be useable for a small print.
