[SOLD] FS: Vivitar Series 1

.

I'd love to keep this baby, but the arrival of my new SMC DA* 50-135 has made it jealous, and we've agreed to part amicably.

Vivitar Series 1 28-105mm f/2.8 - 3.8.......................$120 shipped

This is in absolutely Excellent shape, no cosmetic imperfections at all. It basically looks shiny & new. Comes with the original lens cap and "Vivitar Series 1" square leather hardcase.

It's the 67mm filter size, which is the more coveted of the series 1 28-105's. It's a beautiful, solid piece of metal and glass, and is a good representative of the fabled Series 1 pantheon.

I'll post photos later tonight or tomorrow, but this is the same model lens, but in K-mount:

Vivitar SERIES-1 28-105/2.8-3.8 F/MINOLTA MD, Vivitar SERIES1,

Not sure who made the lens you have, but many of the Vivitar Series 1 lenses were made by Kino Precision (aka Kiron) and are great lenses. I think the serial number will start with 22 if it's a Kiron. I've had three of the Kiron ones for my Konica stuff. They also made a 28-210 that's no slouch.

yeah i agree. i have a 70-210 vivitar series 1 from kiron, and a 28-85mm vivitar Stovepipe (also a kiron) and they are both magnificent. color, contrast, clarity, and sharpness is matched by few lenses today. If you dont mind using manual lenses....these produce picture quality that only $1000+ lenses today can produce.

Serial number starts with "09", so it's a Cosina made lens, not Kiron. It's not as sharp as my Viv series 1 105mm macro, of course, and the legendary Viv series 1 3rd edition 70-210 tended to be a little sharper also, but it's aperture range (2.8 - 3.8) is a big part of it's appeal.

As usual with the Series 1's , it's a heavy lens - all that glass/metal, and the big 67mm front element, but it's a bit smaller lighter than the 70-210 and 105mm macro.

That's a great lens. I've had one ever since I bought my Super Program new (too many years ago). It was my "always on" lens with that camera. I also used it on my K10D when I first got the body only. No compatability problems, except manual focus of course. To be able to get one of these now in excellent shape is certainly worth the price. Mine is optically excellent but cosmetically a little worn (and not for sale, yet). That's what happens when I use a lens as much as I used that one.
Regards,
Brian
