Item Description
The famous 1.7x AF adapter that adds autofocus to manual focus lenses along with a 1.7x magnification. If you haven't used one of these before, please be aware the autofocus won't work on m42 lenses -- at least without some foil tape -- it needs either a bare metal mount like on a M-series lens or A-contacts. When using on a A-lens, it automatically adjusts the aperture shown on the body, so for instance if you put a f2.8 lens on it, it will show as f4.5. To use the AF function you still have to "ballpark" manually focus and then the adapter will lock in. If you put a slow lens on it, the AF is likely not to work except it bright light, although maybe the K-5 II and future models can do better with that. Although it is mostly used to extend the range and add autofocus to older telephotos, this actually can be used for good effect on shorter lenses like 28s and 50s and will create pleasing creamy bokeh (depends on the base lens, naturally). Give it a try on anything it will go on and you might be surprised at how nice it is.

This copy is a bit scuffed up on the exterior, but works fine. Glass is good except there is one microscopic surface scuff on the rear element, slightly off-center. This is only on the coating and is hard to see except in the right light. (That's not a flaw you see in the picture -- that's just a reflection.) It has no effect on the optical performance -- performs as new.

Love this little afa. Have one myself. its one of the few TCs that you cant tell any IQ drop when using it. I have mine paired with my 300mm 2.8 to give me 510mm 4.6. The combo saved me about 4,000 dollars off of buying a standard 5-600mm af lens!
